Resurrection Chant

Early reports of the virus sweeping through religious communities highlighted these hotbeds of the spread of COVID-19. Houses of worship -- synagogues, churches, mosques -- began streaming services to their members. On Easter, Pope Francis performed an unprecedented and reportedly surreal Easter Mass in an empty St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

 

The recording of Ego Sum Resurrectio above features the choir of First Church Unitarian in Littleton, Massachusetts. While sheltering in place, each choir member recorded their part and sent it to the Music Director. Using the software Audacity to combine the individual recordings resulted in this reverent and multi-layered chant for the church's online Easter Service.
